Rajini is NDTV's “Entertainer of the year”! It is a big media honour to outstanding Indians- 'NDTV Indian of the Year award' is a salute to people who have helped build Brand India while excelling in their field of expertise.
On 'January 17' Rajinikanth took the afternoon flight along with his wife Latha to New Delhi to receive the award from Dr Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India at a glittering ceremony at Taj Palace, where top government officials, political leaders and celebrities from various walks of life were present.
The award in the Cinema category went to Rajinikanth, while Shah Rukh Khan won a special award. And both the actors were seen to be complimenting each other generously at the function. Rajinikanth, a man who refuses to accept any kind of awards or be present at private award ceremonies for the first time in his life, willingly accepted the award.
Will he or won't he? To a query whether he would join politics, the superstar replied that the possibility of his donning the politician's role existed. Said Rajinikanth: "I believe in destiny... I believe in God and whatever God wants me to do, I will do."
